BUY THIS BOOK!!!

This is a fantastic book full of key information for people who want to begin vaping. Donald Blakely is a wonderful writer who covers pro, cons, and be carefuls. His friendly, to the point, concise writing style makes me feel as though he is right beside me as a guide, teacher, and mentor. It is very easy to locate and re-read important information. Plus I learned many things I was unaware of such as such conditions such as "Vapers Tongue" and dehydration. I'm living outside the US in a large mega city in China but I'm not aware of any vaping shops like one can easily find in America. Nor can I access You Tube tutorial videos. This book and his follow up "Bigger Clouds" are valuble companions and references.
If you are thinking of starting to vape BUY THIS BOOK!!! It's a treasure trove of valuable information. In fact save yourself some time and order both "I Want To Vape" and "Bigger Clouds" together.

A great beginners guide for anybody first starting out.

Although I've been vaping for about 2 1/2 years, I still felt as though I had more to learn. So I purchased Donald Blakely's first 2 books in his 3 or 4 book series. I also purchased this first book with the idea of passing it along to any of my friends and family that want to start vaping. And I'm so glad I read it. It's a well written book that explains everything you need to know when first starting out, in the world of vaping. Mr. Blakely did a wonderful job!!! I'm so glad I purchased this book. I can now pass it down to a few of my family members that have expressed an interest in vaping. He's done a much better job of explaining all aspects of vaping, than I could EVER do!!! LoL. Thank you Donald Blakely. :-)

Well written and easy to read

Very solid set of information. Well written and easy to read. I've been vaping for a year now and it filled in a lot of gaps for me. Well worth the money. There are a few typos but that's not a big deal at all. There is some great advice in here. I will be using this as a reference in the coming months and years and I've already bought vol.2. I was a little skeptical about his credibility, but then again i'm a pretty skeptical person with some exceptions obviously. Then I realized that there are no credentials in this field and a little faith is healthy. He says he's done his research and it certainly seems like it. The book is well thought out and well organized. Scientific research moves much slower than the industry and practices of vaping and so mostly we have to rely on anecdotal evidence and of course, each other, which is one thing that is very solid about the vaping community on average. Whatever your purpose, this book is worth buying.

Zone Recipes for Dummies

Understanding "The Zone" is one thing. Developing menues, based on "The Zone", is another thing. Thank you, Dr. Sears, for providing so many alternatives for those of us who have neither the imagination nor the time to develop such recipes on our own.
The amount of research necessary to create such a variety of recipes is more than I could possibly do on my own, and greatly enhances the pleasure of being in the zone.
The book,"The Zone", provides a thorough explanation of the concept. This book, which, along with the recipes, contains brief explanations of the "zone" concept along with tables and charts, is an excellent complement to "The Zone", and I recommend it highly.

Best of the Zone Books

After studying most of the Zone books, the original Entering the Zone, Mastering the Zone, the Anti-Aging Zone, A Week in the Zone, and pretty much all the others, I recommend The Top 100 Zone Foods to beginners, because the earlier books, especially --while essential to understanding the science-- are the worst written and worst organized. Having adopted the Zone diet permanently, I refer to this Zone book more than any other. None of the Zone books are well written. But the diet is so excellent, we must read them. At least this one has a decent primer on pages 8-18, which I refer to for reminders on basic questions --like how many grams of fat are there in a "block"? Plus, the organization here --listing the best Zone foods --in order-- and providing a one, two, or three smiley face ranking system-- greatly increases the book's usefulness. Finally, while this is a paperback, it's a big, sturdy paperback.

The introduction includes both a section on how to prescribe and dose herb concentrates, and a section that describes the production of herb concentrates. The main formula section of the text presents functions, indications, and ingredients for almost 300 formulas (arranged alphabetically according to pinyin name), and includes textbook-style discussion and modification sections. Each formula discussion focuses on how the formula is used in the clinic, based on the evolution of its use from the time of its source text to the present. The discussion and modifications sections include both classical and modern uses, and seek to show the relationship between the two. Where relevant, the formula under discussion is compared with similar formulas, and guidelines for determining the correct formula for a given situation are provided. The material in the discussion and modifications sections is drawn from the author's experience, the experience of the practitioners with whom he has studied, the source texts (when available to the author), and commentaries by modern authors.

About the Author
Andrew Ellis first studied Chinese medicine with Dr. James Tin Yau So at the New England School of Acupuncture. He left New England in 1983 to study Chinese language in Taiwan and apprenticed with Chinese herbalist Xu Fu-Su there for several years. Later he studied internal medicine and gynecology at the Xiamen Hospital of Chinese medicine. While there he also specialized in the study of acupuncture with Dr. Shi Neng-Yun and dermatology with Dr. Zhang Guang-Cai.

Andy is the founder and owner of Spring Wind Herbs in Berkeley, California, has taught at several Colleges of Oriental Medicine and has authored, translated or co-translated a number of books on Chinese medicine including Grasping the Wind, The Clinical Experience of Dr. Shi Neng-Yun, Formulas & Strategies and Fundamentals of Chinese Medicine.

Necessary Reference Text

I use this book every day in the clinic. In spite of the encyclopedical formula texts available, this book is often the first text I read when I want to understand an herbal formula I am considering or researching. There are several reasons for this. One reason is the ease of use. This book is organized alphabetically by Pin Yin. When I already know the name of the formula I want to look up, this fact save me a step the other texts require. During a busy clinic day this can make a difference. Of course, this would not be enough if the information I found in the text was not useful. So, the main reason I use this book is because the information Mr. Ellis has written in this text, most often represents the real essence of a formula's action. He writes in a very accessible language. Many times, when I have been doing research on a particular formula, I find that my understanding really clicks into place when I read the commentary here. It is very clear and concise with a good balance between classical and modern Chinese medical usages as well as modern medical considerations. In addition, for each formula, there are suggested modifications which are all very useful.

There are also formulas and information about formulas in this book that are not included in the most popular formula text, Formulas and Strategies (another must have for the clinic). Some of these formulas are important formulas for my own practice. An example of a formula I use frequently that is not in Formulas and Strategies is Dao Shui Fu Ling Tang. This formula is so useful for water swelling with Qi stagnation for which I know no other formula. The other day I was doing research on Gui Zhi Ma Huang Ge Ban Tang. The information in Formulas and Strategies was very minimal, including just what the clause in the Shang Han Lun said. In Notes From South Mountain, there was a much deeper description of the actual clinical use of this formula. The modifications listed were the same modifications the doctor whose work I was translating used.

One of the most useful parts of Notes From South Mountain is the introduction. Mr. Ellis has written a very concise manual here for, not only the use of granules but the use of formulas. He emphasizes the treatment of the root of a disharmony and teaches us how to adjust a root formula to treat the branch. This is a treatise I have my students read as a basic guide to the use of formulas. In addition, for those who are using concentrated granules, this guide answers so many questions as to dosages and proportions of herbs.

If you are a Sino-medical-phile as I am, you will enjoy reading this book cover to cover. It will become one of those well thumbed books on your herbal pharmacies counter.

The deeper levels of Chinese Herbal medicine

This is a book that you dont have time to read when you are an acupuncture student!!... but one that you come back to time and time again for the deep levels, functions, and uses of herbs and formulas.
The modifications are clinically very helpful!! The discussions of the fomulas give you ideas and uses on many more levels than what other books may reveal.

This has been the most used book in my office for the past few years. I can't thank the author enough. At this point the only thing that is holding the book together is duct tape and some dried herbs. The ease of use and the additions make this book a must. If you want to purchase one book to make your granular herb pharmacy work, this is it. Look no further.

Product has become so cheap. I remember when the Haynes Repair Manuals of the past had some weight to them. You could thumb through the pages and not worry about getting grease or tearing them. Now the paper is recycled thin sheets. Not worth the money either for content. I'm no mechanic, but found a lot better "how to" information online.

Not worth it. Step by step is too generic to be helpful. Ive found Better info online. Also does not include part numbers to assist with ordering. Seems like when I meed specific info, this does not have it. I will stick to online forums and videos, which are vastly more helpful.

A theory of inclusive universality' is developed, and its implications are translated into legal techniques. On the one hand, there are flexibility' techniques, allowing for contextual diversity in the interpretation and application of human rights norms. On the other hand, giving credit to non-Western views also implies that there should be room for transformation' of those human rights norms
