David Landau has over thirty years of professional lighting experience working on feature films, TV shows, sit-coms, game shows, commercials, documentaries, industrial films, music videos and direct-to-consumer DVDs. Landau teaches lighting and cinematography at Fairleigh Dickinson University, US, where he also created the Cinematography track of study, but continues to work in the lighting industry, shooting low budget features and corporate videos, designing lights for theatre and working as one of the gaffers on the TV series Project Runway. A five-time Telly Award winner for lighting and cinematography, Landau is a member of IATSE Local 52, the University Film & Video Association and Media Communications Association International.

one of the best books on lighting for film that I have ever ...

As a self-taught cinematographer I can confidently state that this is an indispensable tome for anyone part of the revolution of filmmakers gaining their education through websites, collaboration, and trial and error. Truly, one of the best books on lighting for film that I have ever read. Mr. Landau's writing style is fluid, conversational, and easy to understand; and, his examples are derived from real world projects that he has crewed, and not conjecture based off of the work of others.

I purchased this book for the kindle and have found myself highlighting about 75% of what I read--that's incredible! I am no slouch when it comes to lighting, but there is just so much useful material between these pages that I can't help myself. Many of you may be familiar with the following scenario: the information on lighting that we unearth on the web or via other books on the subject is either woefully basic, or it is dependent upon absurdly expensive, power-hungry instruments that most of us will never use. Honestly, to my eye, this is the case of at least 75% of the material that I come across. Conversely, Mr. Landau stays true to the title, and teaches the reader all sorts of theory and application that is achievable with accessible instruments. This is precisely what I have been looking for for years now.

Do yourself a favor and purchase this book. If you are a beginner, this is going to rapidly ratchet your skills to a higher level; if you are a more advanced cinematographer or gaffer, this book will fill in the gaps necessary to make you shine far brighter than you ever have. Honestly, I can not recommend Lighting for Cinematography highly enough!

Fantastic non-technical overview of lighting, with several different scenarios and anecdotes. Paired with the Set Lighting Technician's Handbook, one can receive a relatively encompassing education of lighting for cinematographers. Landau goes through different daylight interior/exterior and night time interior/exterior with stills to illustrate each of the his written examples. A great book on the design of lighting, but definitely needs to be paired with the Set Lighting Technician's Handbook for a full education. Great read!

A must read for production-quality filmmaking

David Landau is a talented and professional cinematographer as well as an excellent teacher. Being a past student of his, I appreciated every lesson he's taught me from basic lighting, netting and bouncing natural light, shooting at night, and that special trick that older interviewees appreciate that make their wrinkles less prominent.

A very helpful guide for success

I have owned everyone of the Zootycoons and always had trouble with the challenging aspects of the game until I got this guide. It helps a lot with the planning of your zoo, the campign strategies and how to construct a good exhibit. It is very easy to understand and is very helpful if you are new to the zootycoon genre. I highly recommend it.

This is a helpful book

If you want to be truely successful with Zoo Tycoon 2, you should read this book. There were things I learned that worked WAY better than other things I tried myself. For example, who would have guessed that visitors find standing up in a gazebo more restful than sitting on a bench?!

I will say that I am slightly annoyed that some of the more basic information that is in this book is not available with the literature that comes with the game. But I guess it is one more way of funding the game creation process (in the way that paying a parking ticket is a way of funding the good things that your local municipality does!!).

But it really does help you make a zoo where the animals and the people are happy. :-)

Best Fantasy Romance of 2015

If you've made it this far then you might find yourselves filled with a lot of reader's angst after the epic plot twist in A Faerie's Secret.� I was extremely apprehensive� whilst waiting on this release and� wondering if it were even possible to follow up something so emotionally and mentally stunning with a story to do it justice.� It went above and beyond to surpass all expectations and hopes. I enjoyed it so much that I read it twice in a day!

In this spin off of the original Creepy Hollow series, everything we once took at face value is challanged. And while these inventive ideas push us to explore different territory of the fae realm, it does so without altering our already ingrained ideas of Creepy Hollow.� It instead expands into an entirely new adventure,� presenting new perspectives from characters in the background of the original series. The smooth flowing prose and dynamics of it are flawless!

Calla is probably the strongest heroine I've read about and it has little to do with a snarky attitude or physical strength. For Calla to always maintain control of her special ability and keep it a secret, she must be vigilant mentally and emotionally at all times. Not being able to control it can have deadly consequences and her traumatic past has proven it. She's not your every day, run of the mill guardian. She second guesses everything. She needs to know that before she takes action that it is deserved or necessary. Her empathy makes her the perfect mate for someone like Chase.

Chase will steal your heart and confuse everything you thought you knew about right and wrong. Your heart will break for him time and again.

I adore how realistically situations were handled between Chase and Calla. And how emotions weren't rushed to try to squeeze in a 'Happily Ever After'.

It is inventive, fast paced, and enthralling.� It never lacks action, and it never becomes confusing with overloaded scenes. It touches base with real world dilemmas we often face as a society and throws us into the hearts of the villians. I've seen this strategy before, but until now I had not seen it perfected!

A Faerie's Revenge is hands down the must read novel of 2015!�The Creepy Hollow series has officially secured its spot as the most addictive books I've ever read. This is literally the best story I've read all year and one of the best Fantasy Romance stories of all time.

A perfect continuation of a great series - this is NOT a "middle book"

I picked up my first Rachel Morgan Creepy Hollow book because of the cover. I've stayed ever since because of the stories. The whole series (and all of her books) are so fresh and true. She never strays into tropes, I never feel as if she is simply retelling story already told a thousand times by other authors. She writes true characters, with honest conflicts, and I love traveling through the book with them to see what happens.

A Faerie's Revenge is no different. Both Chase and Calla are trying to overcome things in their past. Their interactions with each other are genuine, and I never felt like the author was coming up with twists simply to keep them apart. Their issues are real, and their reactions to each other feel true.

I love the world that Rachel Morgan has created in Creepy Hollow. I wish I could go visit, though I don't think I'm kick-butt enough to survive.

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys great characterization, real relationships (romantic and otherwise), all surrounded with a touch of magic.

This novel is part of a series, and if you're truly going to understand the conflict, I highly recommend reading the series in order. Believe me, you won't regret it. The whole series is readable, and very re-readable - which is the highest recommendation I can make.

Novel is clean, with no objectionable scenes or language.

I received a complementary copy of the book for my review (my first time I can say that! And with one of my favorite authors, I'm so proud!)

Fantastic Addition to Creepy Hollow Series!

This was an exciting and fantastic sequel to A Faerie's Secret that will leave you begging for the next book in the series! Rachel Morgan has done it yet again, and crafted a wonderful book that has nonstop action, adventure, and romance. Her writing is gorgeous, with every scene richly described, and the way she writes her characters...well it's safe to say that you'll fall in love with all of them even more after reading this installment in the Creepy Hollow series.

This book picks up right where we left off in A Faerie's Secret. Calla is still reeling from the shocker over Chase's identity, and she is doing everything in her power to try and forget all about him. However, that's not going so well, as basically everything she does reminds Calla of Chase. Suddenly, a mysterious illness spreads like wildfire throughout Creepy Hollow, and it spells TROUBLE for Calla. I had no idea where Ms. Morgan was going to take this book, but this went in such an amazing direction. I loved how unexpected this story was, and I never knew what was going to happen next. Many series might have become boring by now, but Ms. Morgan is an expert at storytelling, and easily sweeps you off your feet while reading this story. The story is fast-paced, but never confusing, and everything about the story is extremely well-developed. You can see how much time and effort Ms. Morgan put into creating this novel.

However, where this book truly shines is in its characters. Calla has come a remarkably long way since the previous book, and I applaud Ms. Morgan for the growth that Calla has experienced. She has never once lost her optimistic and hopeful nature. Calla wants to fix everything and never stops trying. Even though she suffers a lot of downfalls and has many crazy times, she never once stops being her determined self. Chase is also amazing in this novel. I loved him in the last book, and after the revelation of his true identity, I had no idea what to think. You honestly can't help but love him. After all of the events of his past, he is still looking for redemption. He has a way to go, but he's off to an amazing start. He has already made great strides to creating a better future for himself and the people around him, and my heart broke for him so many times.

The one thing that I love about Rachel Morgan's writing is how she reminds every reader that there is more to the world than you think. There is a recurring theme in this book of Calla realizing that the world isn't black and white. There are many gray areas, and that nothing is truly as it seems...whether that means other people or the world you live in. At the end of the day though, as Calla says, it comes down to choosing the "brighter colors in life."

I highly recommend checking this book out if you're a fan of the Creepy Hollow series. You will not want to miss out on this exciting adventure that Calla and Chase embark on, and you will never guess how it will all end. I am so excited for the next book in the series, and to see where Rachel Morgan takes the story!

A Book For Everyone!

This book is needed in every classroom and every home. Teachers can use this book during Autism Awareness month and to teach about acceptance. This book is also great for the classroom because it is written by a child so it enforces the idea that all children have the ability to be authors. This book is written from the view of a child who explains Autism and shows his life with his Autistic brother. It is written in a way that is clear to children of all ages and the illustrations are real photographs from the author's life. Parents can use this book at home to teach their own children about what is means to be accepting and to expose their own children to the different type of people that exist in the world. I know this book will get tons of use by me in my own effort to spread Autism awareness! Amazing!

I have a child on the Autism Spectrum and I LOVE this book. It is very well written and promotes acceptance, which is SO important. Many Thanks to the Author!!! You did an amazing job! I recommend this book to all teachers and all of my friends who have kids.
